Breez x Spark — A New Way to Build on Bitcoin
Breez and Spark are teaming up with a new Breez SDK implementation built on Spark’s Bitcoin-native Layer 2 infrastructure — making it even easier for developers to integrate self-custodial Lightning payments into everyday apps and services.
Bitcoin is evolving from digital gold into a global currency used by millions worldwide — and as this momentum continues to grow, more apps want to tap into its ability to bring permissionless peer-to-peer payments to anyone, anywhere.
That’s where Breez and Spark come in. Breez builds the services developers need to bring self-custodial Lightning payments to their apps. Spark is a Bitcoin-native L2 built for payments and settlement so developers can build natively on Bitcoin instead of around it.
And now, Breez and Spark are joining forces.
We’re excited to announce a new implementation of the Breez SDK, built on top of Spark, making it even easier for developers to add Bitcoin payments to everyday apps and services. The new implementation brings developers everything needed for a best-in-class Lightning experience — including bindings for all major programming languages and frameworks, support for LNURL and Lightning addresses, and real-time user interaction via mobile notifications.
Built on Spark, this implementation provides a Bitcoin-native experience without relying on bridges or external consensus. The new SDK implementation gives builders new ways to unlock the power of Bitcoin as a global, permissionless currency in various use cases like streaming payments for content, monetizing social apps, in-game currencies, cross-border remittances, AI micro-settlements, and many more.
