São Paulo February 2025 – In addition to being seen as a store of value, Bitcoin isn’t even widely used for transactions because of the slow confirmation times. The Lightning Network, built on the Bitcoin blockchain, has resolved that issue. Now, our customers are connected to this fast, cheaper solution through Transfero’s products and solutions in partnership with Lightspark.
By integrating these technologies, paying with Bitcoin in retail becomes faster, similar to the speed of a Pix payment.
The Lightning Network enables instant transactions at reduced costs, overcoming the limitations of traditional Bitcoin transfer methods, which often require long waits for block confirmations on the blockchain. The partnership aims to remove this barrier, making Bitcoin a practical, viable option for everyday transactions, such as physical and online retail purchases.
An example of this speed can already be seen at the Zona Sul supermarket in the Ipanema (RJ) location, where customers can pay with Bitcoin almost instantly, without lengthy wait times and with lower fees. What used to take minutes now happens in seconds, eliminating the need to wait for confirmations on Bitcoin’s leading network.
By leveraging the Lightning Network, consumers have access to a more efficient and cost-effective alternative to traditional crypto payments while still maintaining the security of the blockchain.
