Bitrefill partners with Lightspark for global supplier payments
Bitrefill is using Lightspark’s stablecoin orchestration and global payouts API to pay suppliers in the United States, Mexico, and Brazil. The partnership connects Bitrefill’s USDC balance to local bank payments, with instant payouts available over PIX, SPEI, RTP, and FedNow.
From USDC to a supplier’s bank account
More than a million customers use Bitrefill to buy gift cards, phone refills, and eSIMs with crypto. Its catalog spans over 8,000 products across more than 180 countries. Customers pay in bitcoin, stablecoins, and other cryptocurrencies, while the businesses supplying those products often need local currency.
For gift cards, Bitrefill pays suppliers in advance to cover customer purchases. As people keep buying, those balances need to be topped up. A customer can pay Bitrefill in bitcoin while the supplier expects dollars in a bank account. Keeping those suppliers funded is part of keeping the products available.
“With Lightspark, we can pay suppliers in minutes instead of days, straight from our USDC balance. It’s faster and cheaper, and that makes a real difference when you’re paying suppliers around the world in large volumes.”
Sergej Kotliar, CEO of Bitrefill
Stablecoin orchestration and instant payouts
Lightspark’s API lets Bitrefill fund supplier payments in USDC and deliver local currency directly to suppliers’ bank accounts, with visibility into payment status and settlement. Behind it, Lightspark’s API creates a quote showing the exchange rate and fees, processes the USDC funding, converts the money, and pays the supplier’s bank account. The API also reports payment status so the team can track settlement.
Instant bank payouts are available through PIX in Brazil, SPEI in Mexico, and RTP or FedNow for eligible US bank accounts. This gives Bitrefill a way to replenish supplier balances in real time where those rails are supported.
The same USDC balance can fund payouts across all three markets. Suppliers receive dollars, Mexican pesos, or Brazilian reais in their existing bank accounts. Lightspark handles the stablecoin conversion and bank payment, so suppliers can receive local currency without having to hold crypto.
“Bitrefill understood early on that a global business could run much more efficiently with stablecoins at the core of its money backend. That thinking extends to how they pay suppliers around the world, and we’re excited to be working with them.”
David Marcus, CEO of Lightspark
More countries and currencies
The US, Mexico, and Brazil are live today, and Bitrefill is extending the same setup to more of its suppliers worldwide. New markets use the same global payouts API, USDC balance, and dashboard its team already uses. Lightspark handles conversion and routes payouts through local payment networks, so Bitrefill can add suppliers and currencies without building a separate payment integration for each country.
Lightspark’s broader payout network supports 65+ countries. See our documentation for the full country and rail coverage.
